The Brilliance of "Learning": The Outburst of University Wisdom
On the stage of the Graduate Electronics Competition, students from universities have shown unprecedented enthusiasm and initiative. This year's competition attracted 7,368 entries from 310 universities across the country. The competition covers eight directions: "Circuit and Embedded System", "Mechatronics Control and Intelligent Manufacturing", "Communication and Network Technology", "Information Perception System and Application", "Signal and Information Processing Technology and System", "Artificial Intelligence", "Technical Exploration and Interdisciplinary", and "Exploration of Advanced Wireless Technology for 6G", with work content covering various fields such as industry, energy, and transportation.
Among the entries, we have seen students breaking through traditional thinking patterns and integrating cutting-edge technology and unique concepts into their works. Huang Zihao, Ding Qili, and Zhu Xuanbing from Dalian University of Technology, with the work titled "GD32 Underwater Robot Controller Based on", is the first fully domestic underwater robot system.
Jian Zhaolong, Liu Xu, and Cheng Longkai from Nankai University, with the work titled "Multimodal Intelligent Ocular Fundus Analyzer Based on the Feiteng Heterogeneous Multi-core Platform", mainly relies on the multi-core features of the Feiteng platform, combined with multimodal imaging technology and artificial intelligence algorithms, to improve the accuracy and efficiency of ocular fundus lesion detection and reduce the risk of damage from chronic diseases.
In terms of 6G, there are also excellent works submitted by students. Liu Jiyang, Wang Shaojing, and Li Shenhao from the National University of Defense Technology, with the entry titled "6G Symphony - Low Earth Orbit Satellite Integrated Communication and Navigation Signal Scheme", is the first attempt in the industry to integrate navigation functions in the entire process of 6G candidate signal integration.
The work is based on the 6G candidate signal OTFS and innovatively designs the ComNav-OTFS signal, integrating communication and navigation functions into a single satellite, overcoming the three major technical challenges of integrating navigation functions into low Earth orbit communication satellites: rapid capture of large constellations, high-dynamic channel estimation, and high-precision integrated positioning. It can provide a unified terminal and integrated services for the general public and various industries, and is also applicable to other modulation waveforms (such as AFDM).When discussing why he chose the 6G topic, Liu Jiyang replied: "On the one hand, this competition is closely related to our research topic, and we hope to promote the research through participating in the competition. On the other hand, as graduate students, we hope to contribute to the construction of the 6G system."
In the competition, students are no longer limited to formulas and theorems in textbooks, but apply them to specific projects. Regarding the evaluation of the competition in the integration of industry, academia, and research, Huang Zihao from Dalian University of Technology said: "This is my first time participating in the research and electricity competition, which is very different from the competitions I participated in during my undergraduate studies. Many works on the scene can be industrialized and meet actual needs."
"Product" Chapter of Brilliance: Enterprises Lead the Trend of Innovation
At the beginning of the research and electricity competition, the development idea of "taking industrial demand as the guidance and focusing on practice" was established. Enterprises provide financial support, participate in topic design and review, and provide entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for outstanding participants, which are the main drivers of this innovative event.
It is under the guidance of such a clear development idea that enterprises have played a crucial role in the research and electricity competition. As He Wei, the general manager of GigaDevice Technology Group Co., Ltd., said at the award ceremony: "The research and electricity competition provides us with an excellent platform to get close to young talents who are full of vitality and creativity. We explore the forefront of technology together and promote industrial upgrading hand in hand."
In this competition, GigaDevice, Huawei, Synopsys, TI, Phytium, Horizon Robotics, Xiaomi, SuanNeng, YOKOGAWA, and MathWorks participated in the enterprise topic setting.
This year marks the seventh consecutive year that GigaDevice has sponsored the national finals. Wang Xiao, the ecosystem market manager of GigaDevice, said: "There are three reasons for sponsoring the research and electricity competition. The first is brand promotion, which allows more teachers from colleges and universities, people related to the electronics industry, and students to have a clearer understanding of what kind of company GigaDevice is through the competition. The second is talent recruitment, as GigaDevice relies on the competition to continuously explore potential talents from colleges and universities, allowing everyone to join GigaDevice and realize their potential. The third is to explore more potential solutions, such as selecting 25 solutions from 150 works this time, some of which have also applied for patents and mass production, and can continue to exert their value in the future."
GigaDevice set up three competition topics this time, focusing on the mainstream products of GigaDevice, related industry development boards, and AI topics, while also retaining the open topic options from previous years. A total of 151 teams submitted related works, and 25 teams successfully advanced to the Wuxi finals.
As a firm co-organizer for two consecutive research and electricity competitions, YOKOGAWA continued the successful model from the previous session, providing free loan services for instruments and answering questions for students throughout the process. Xu Xiaohua, a technical support engineer from YOKOGAWA, said: "In the research and electricity competition, YOKOGAWA hopes to establish connections with students, future electronic engineers, and those who use our instruments. The highlights or innovative aspects of the competition works will also help our research and innovation."Every year, thousands of teams register for the Mathworks命题track, and MathWorks has also gained a lot from the Research Electric Competition. Li Qingjie, the person in charge of Mathworks China's education industry in China, said: "On the first aspect, the teams using Mathworks software basically account for 1/3 of the teams participating in the Research Electric Competition, and the promotion of the brand is undoubtedly. On the second aspect, the contestants of the Research Electric Competition are all relatively cutting-edge and innovative, and we can also listen to their challenges and ideas in the process of use, to actively feedback and form a part of the MathWorks global community. On the third aspect, supporting the participation in the Research Electric Competition is also a social responsibility. We also do what we can for engineers and scientists to make it more convenient and easy for them to carry out engineering exploration."
At the same time, the existence of the Research Electric Competition is also promoting further integration between enterprises and universities. From the perspective of students, in the exchange with Jiang Tao from Tianjin University who participated in the Xiaomi proposition, he said: "I chose Xiaomi because Xiaomi has carried out a series of teaching activities in the school, providing an excellent smart home experimental platform. We often have one-on-one exchanges with Xiaomi engineers, and they can provide us with a lot of technical support. As the first batch of users of this platform, we will provide them with a lot of feedback to improve the system comprehensively."
"Integration and Symbiosis": The Symbiotic Concerto of Industry, University, and Research
On the stage of the Research Electric Competition, the integration and symbiosis of industry, university, and research is like an exciting symphony of cooperation, playing the strongest note of innovation and development.
As the organizer of this competition, Jin Shi, the vice president of Southeast University, said that Southeast University has always adhered to the original intention and mission of "famous for science, serving the country with talents", adhered to serving the national strategy, explored the "Southeast University model" of integrating education, science and technology, and talents, and cultivated leading talents for the future with innovation. This Research Electric Competition, as an important means of cultivating graduate students in the field of electronic information, is of great significance for cultivating the national sentiment, innovative spirit, practical ability, and team consciousness of graduate students.
